What you see on this page

After entering you'll see a table with fields' names of a database table which you chose for your search, places where you should type down a criteria of your search (for example, a name of a person, a date, a title, Classifier theme, etc.), and checked boxes(by default it's checked), part of which you can uncheck if you don't need them in your search's results.

What you can do on this page to make a search

  1. Choose a table you want to make a search in from a pull-down menu above the table.
  2. Type down your search criteria (one or several) in a corresponding field/fields.
  3. If you are not sure about right way of writing of one of the fields in search, then you can type a part of the word. For example by typing "abi" for searching out Rabinovich, or "mo" for searching out "Moscow".
  4. If you need to see all entries of chosen table with all fields, then you should run search without filling any search criteria into the fields in chosen table.
  5. It is reasonable for any search to include three first fields: Fund Number, Item Number and Fund Name (Owner's Name) for full identification of future search results prints. It is important to take into account, that in all database tables except "Videocassettes archive" the fields by name "Item Number" has unique value for each record which serves as an unique identifier of each particular record, and hence it must be included into any search in any case. In the "Videocassettes archive" this unique role plays a field "Subject number".
  6. Click on a button "Submit" and you'll see a database table which includes your search's results only.

Please do not use key "Back" to return to previous page. In most of the cases it would not work. If you need to get to a page or a stage that you was there before, then you should make your way to it from the begining.

Choosing table for search

Column of unique values for records

For almost all tables except "videocassets archive" - a column named "Item Number" has unique values for all records of the table. In "videocassets archive" such column is named "Subject number"

Search by part of word

If you are not sure about right way of writing of one of the fields in search, then you can type a part of the word. For example by typing "abi" for searching out Rabinovich, or "mo" for searching out "Moscow".

Check all entries of a table

If you need to see all entries of chosen table with all fields, then you should run search without filling any search criteria into the fields in chosen table.

Sorting on a resulting table

You can sort on records by any column of a resulting table by clicking on the column header. You can sort on records in descending or ascending order. The table will be sorted in the moment of clicking on the column header. A repeated click on the name of the same column will change order of sorting to the opposite direction. The column that the table is sorted on will be marked in darker colors. A resulting table can be sorted only by one column in the same time.

To the left of each column header you can find symbol of sorting order:

  1. not sorted column
  2. column, that is sorted in descending order (from Z to A, from 9 to 0)
  3. column, that is sorted in descending order (from Z to A, from 9 to 0)

In case of boundary overflow of resulting table

You can zoom out with keys on keyboard - "Ctrl" and "-" pressed together or simply uncheck needless fields. Each resulting table is formatted to take 100% width of the page, but some tables have width that cannot be fitted in page with all its columns.

In case you zoomed out too much, you can zoom in with keys "Ctrl" and "+" pressed together.

Search in result of previous search

If resulting table is too big and you need more restricted result, then you can type in other fields (columns of chosen table) at the same time do not remove all that you typed in previous search. And then run a new search to restrict existing resulting table

Printing resulting table

If you need to see names of fields on each printed list, then you need to open this site in Internet Explorer 9 or later or in Firefox. Displaying of fields names on each list works only in those programs.

After you found what you have searched, then press "Print result"

You will get another window with only resulting table without unnecessary elements. In this page (in case that you use Internet Explorer) please press in menu "File"->"print preview"

After that press symbol of gear in menu. Then choose page orientation (portrait or landscape) as befitted for result page. Then correct margins for printing (10mm in all four fields will be good enough) and then press "OK" to process printing

But if table still could not be fitted to page A4 landscape, then you can shrink table with aspect 50% and print it by making following steps:
